Preliminary Hearing

A Preliminary Hearing is a felony defendant's first opportunity to challenge the facts that lead to the issuance of a criminal arrest warrant against them.  The Piedmont Circuit District Attorney's Office has the burden of proving the allegations as alleged in the warrants and are responsible for setting the calendar for these hearings. Any questions regarding Preliminary Hearing calendars can be directed to their office at 706-387-6288. The Preliminary Hearings are held every two - three weeks at the Courtroom with in the Jackson County Jail.
